Halloween is behind us and the North Myrtle Beach area is busy gearing up for the holidays! The months of November and December are packed with festive events – from parades and tree lightings to festivals and concerts – meaning you won’t be bored during your trip to the Grand Strand. Whether you are enjoying an extended weekend with family and friends for Thanksgiving or are staying in the area for a Snowbird Vacation, be sure to check out some of the area’s holiday events:
Carolina Opry Christmas Special – Nov.1st-Jan.4th
Head to the Carolina Opry for the biggest and best Christmas themed show in the area. This award winning troupe has earned a reputation for perfection and this festive special is currently on its 28th season. This year, American Idol’s La Toya Jackson has joined the cast, along with several other favorites. You won’t want to miss “The Christmas Show of The South” – as it is often called. Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland – Nov.8th-Jan.5th
Come to the area’s only drive through Christmas light display! Not only are there millions of LED Christmas lights on display, but the lights are also synchronized to Christmas music and put on a truly spectacular show during your drive. The show takes place at the Myrtle Beach Pelican’s Ball Park nightly from dusk – 10pm. Tickets can be purchased online or from the comfort of your car.
Dickens Christmas Show & Festival – Nov.14th – 17th
Get in the Christmas Spirit at the annual Dicken’s Christmas Show & Festival. Held annually at the Myrtle Beach Convention center, this event draws thousands of visitors each year. Enjoy a variety of vendors offering everything from jewelry, art, and home décor to specialty food items, Christmas decorations, and toys. Strolling Victorian musicians and entertainers will be present and Santa will be there for pictures.
Lighting of The Landing – November 15th
Come by Barefoot Landing on Friday, November 15th to celebrate the annual tree lighting and to welcome Santa Clause to the area! The event will begin with a spectacular fireworks show at 7:00 pm that welcomes Santa and his elves. There will be performers, carousel rides, and other festive events as guests wait to see Santa in person. The evening will conclude with the lighting of the Barefoot Landing Christmas Tree.
“Goodbye to 75” Celebration – Nov.22nd
Say “Goodbye” to 75 and celebrate the great city of Myrtle Beach on Friday, November 22nd at The Myrtle Beach Convention Center. The night will have a 50’s theme and will feature beach music from Greg Rowles with lots of dancing and decadent treats. This family friendly event takes place from 5:30-8:30 and tickets can be purchased in advance or the day of.
South Carolina State Bluegrass Festival – Nov.28th-30th
Keep your Thanksgiving weekend filled with excitement at the 44th annual Bluegrass Festival. This event will showcase over 25 Bluegrass artists over the weekend and will be fun for the whole family. There will be food available for purchase and plenty of seating for you to kick back and enjoy the show. Tickets can be purchased in advance or the day of.
A Christmas Carol – Nov.29th-Dec.22nd
Gather family and friends and come see this play that has become a holiday tradition for many. A Christmas Carol follows the story of Scrooge who meets several Christmas spirits who teach him to be a more caring, compassionate human being. Performance times are Thursday – Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 3:00 pm at the Atlantic Stage.
Night of A Thousand Candles – Dec.5th-21st
Take a trip south to Brookgreen Gardens to enjoy the spectacle of a lifetime. During the month of December, the gardens will light up with thousands of sparkling lights and over 5,000 hand lit candles. Enjoy strolling through the exhibits as your sip on hot cider and hear caroling and hand bells. There will also be dinner plates available for purchase from Inlet Affairs Catering. North Myrtle Beach Christmas Parade – Dec.7th
Gather along Main Street in North Myrtle Beach on Saturday, December 7th for the annual North Myrtle Beach Christmas Parade. The parade will feature a variety of festive floats, local bands, and walking groups and tons of Christmas decorations and music to go along. Santa himself will be there, so be sure you stick around until the end! The parade starts at 5:30 pm and spectators are encouraged to get a spot early.
Lunch Cruise With Santa – Dec.14th
Pack the little ones and make plans to have lunch with Santa on Saturday, December 14thaboard the Barefoot Princess Riverboat. Between 10:45-12:45, guests can enjoy a casual hot dog lunch while they cruise the river at Barefoot Landing and interact with Santa to make sure they are on his “nice list”.
